Mission Trip

For the past week Ive been up in Tennessee on a mission trip.  I went with Student Life and we painted an apartment complex and hosted a VBS on the grounds.  It was a very powerful trip and have benefited from it greatly.  I went as a counselor because it was the 7th through 10th graders mission trip for the summer.  I was put in charge of the painting with my good friend Chris and we had a really good time.  I was also put in charge of a couple bible studies when we all split up with 6 of the kids each.  God called me to go on this trip in order to give me a little boost for the upcoming Africa trip.  Spiritually I grew tremendously on this trip.  I learned that when times get rough just trust in him and read his word and comfort will be given in excess.  He is an amazing God and I pray that my heart and body lets him work through me the way he wants to.

2 More Months

For all of my high school career I have been heavily involved in my youth group.  Every summer we go on various work and witness trips all over the US.  We have been sent to third world countries as well.  My youth pastor, Rodney Neighbors, has instilled the need to serve God and help others into my heart.  This trip to Africa will be an experience unlike any other I have ever encountered.  I first realized that I wanted to go to Africa a year and a half ago.  My dad asked what I might like to do after my senior year.  I thought about it for a while and came to the realization that I was being called to mission work!  I kinda always knew that I was suppose to do mission work.  Ever since I was in 8th grade.  We were at a teen camp and they were talking about missionaries and martyrs and I felt a type of wanting or a spiritual need to follow in their footsteps.  To say the least is that I am very excited about this trip and I cant wait to meet everyone that I will be with.

Harry Potter

I was, at first, confused as to what i was suppose to write about on this blog page. It has slowly dawned upon me that all I am required to do is post a writing that entails what I have been up to or what I have planned. This seemed all the more curious to me as to why people, that I don't know, would want to hear what I am doing. I sat and thought about it for a spell and have come up with the conclusion that David Gross wants us to communicate with each other because in a couple of months we will have no other choice. So his attempt is to get us to like each other and to know each other to some extent. Therefore I am pleased to announce that at 11:59 pm tonight I will be seeing one of the first showings of Harry Potter; one of my favorite movies!!!!!! Other than Lord of the Rings of course!!!

Excited

I am entirely anxious to get this trip underway. Ive wanted to be a part of something that can help God in an extreme way for quite some time. As the days pass here in Ponte Vedra Beach, I just sit quietly and wait for September to finally roll around. Patience is not something I was given an abundance of! Prayer has engulfed my nightly events and has turned to writing and scripture reading. I am so ready to do His work and I cant wait to meet the team that will be with me when Im doing it.

Today

I am feeling a little discouraged today because Im starting to feel the tension of leaving everyone behind. I am mostly talking about my best friend and girlfriend Victoria Cameron Tillman. She will be attending Olivet Nazarene University this fall and I was suppose to be following her there. Granted, I will be joining her when i get back from Kenya but that doesn't ease the fact that i have to leave her. This will be the longest Ive ever been without her and it just is a little discouraging. She understands that God has called me towards this and is supporting me 100%. Im sure there are others in this group that have something in common with my dillema. I suppose my advice to myself and to others would be to trust God because he will take care of you and what means most to you.
